Where did the idea of BackHug come from?

Chongsu Lee developed a hands-on technique to reduce spinal joint stiffness and alleviate back pain and other conditions. He then created BackHug, a mechanized version, to make the treatment more accessible and affordable.

Chongsu Lee was formerly an engineer for Hyundai in Seoul and then moved to Edinburgh to become a qualified physiotherapist.

By using a unique hands-on technique, Chongsu realised that reducing stiffness in the spinal joints had a dramatic impact on people with back pain, related pain in other parts of the body (head ache, Achilles tendon, golfer’s elbow etc.) and neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinsons.

In creating BackHug, he found a way of mechanising the process, not only increasing its effectiveness but making it more affordable and accessible to all.
