The Struggle is Real:
The Impact of Stress and Tension

Stress and tension can make it hard for you to fall or stay asleep, making you tired and further adding to your stress. That increased stress and tension makes it difficult to get comfortable and find a restful position - completing the vicious circle.

Headaches, tense muscles, and stomach problems are common physical symptoms caused by stress and tension. Prolonged sitting with a poor posture in a stressful work environment can also cause lower back pain and discomfort throughout the body.

Prolonged stress and tension can make you feel overwhelmed and anxious, and decrease your quality of life. Moreover, the tension can manifest as lower back pain, which can cause further emotional distress, frustration and discomfort.

Stress and tension make it challenging to focus and complete tasks, leading to decreased productivity. The tension can lead to lower back pain which makes it difficult to sit or stand comfortably for long periods, leading to decreased work output and missed work or school.

Move Better and Feel Better with BackHug

Improved Posture

BackHug can help improve your posture by gently aligning your spine and shoulders, which can help to reduce the tension in your neck and upper back and help you relax. This can, in turn, relieve aches and pains caused by poor posture, and promote a better night's sleep.

Deep Tissue

BackHug uses deep tissue pressure to release stiff joints in your neck and upper back caused by stress and tension, helping to release tension in the muscles and improve blood flow to the rest of the body. This provides relief from the general discomfort caused by stress and tension.

Relax and

Releasing stiff joints in the back stimulates the para-sympathetic nervous system, which helps us rest, relax and recover from illness or injury. The rhythmical quality of the motion of BackHug's fingers during treatment can help you sleep, so you're energised and focused throughout the day.

BackHug targets stiff joints in your back - a common source of pain and tension caused by stress - using deep tissue pressure. By targeting the joints, BackHug helps increase blood flow and alleviate pressure on your nerves, making you feel more mobile and reducing muscle tension.

"BackHug helps hugely over a period of time"

The first time you use it, it’s great. The second time you use it, it’s great, and then you start to notice the benefits. It’s the funny things, after 10 days you, think…Oh, i’m putting on my shoes a bit easier, or i’m bending to pick things up a bit easier. There are so many links between how think, and how we feel physically - everything from shoulder tightness to back tightness. The mind affects the body, the body affects the mind. If on BackHug you can also go through a relaxation procedure for the mind, then tick tick.

Stiff Joints in Your Back
Contribute To The Build Up of Stress and Tension

Asset 57
Compressed Nerves

Most of the pain we experience is a response to pressure on our nerves. So, to fix your pain, you need to remove the pressure from those nerves.

But where does that pressure come from?

Compressed NErve in Stiff Joints

The stress on your nerves almost always comes from the joints in your back. That's because the nerves in your neck, back, arms, and legs all start from the joints in your back.

Pain felt in centre of back

Your back is a magnet for stress in the body: It keeps you upright and bears the weight you carry. That stress accumulates as stiffness in the joints in your back, and just as a bicycle chain gets rusty in the rain, the joints in your back get stiff under stress.

Pain spreads around the body

Stiff joints in the back don't just cause pain in the back; the stiffness travels through the fascia to other parts of your body, resulting in headaches, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, tight hamstrings, tight calves, Achilles tendinitis, and much more.

Five Steps To Feel Better:
Getting Started With BackHug

Person using the consultation feature on the BackHug app

Personalise Your Treatment

We strongly recommend that you take our in-App back care consultation by answering a dozen back health-related questions to identify your specific areas of pain and stiffness. Based on the results, our system will design a personalised program that targets those areas and provide you with the most effective treatment plan.

Relax and Decompress

As you relax on BackHug's ergonomic V-shaped upholstery and U-shaped headrest, our leg-rest feature will ease you into the perfect position for treatment. By raising your legs to 90°, BackHug decompresses your spine, helping you relax and prepare for effective joint de-stiffening.

No! Massage chairs treat muscle tightness. BackHug treats joint stiffness. Massage chairs use large balls and rollers that move up and down the neck and back but can't reach your joints. BackHug uses human-sized robotic fingers that go deep into the knots and stiffness in the joints of the back, neck and shoulder blades.
