Alison: Managing MS Symptoms with Improved Mobility and Energy

Alison is an actress and director living in Glasgow. After years of receiving hands-on treatment for MS, she began trialing BackHug and now uses it at home.

We spoke with her about the difference it's made.

Can you tell us about yourself and how you first discovered BackHug?

My name is Alison Peebles, and I am an actress and a director and I live in Glasgow.

I first met Chongsu through Revive MS in Edinburgh where he was trialling his hands on treatment and so I did that for several years which I found very beneficial. And during that time he was developing the bed so I was asked if I wanted to help and trial that, which I did, of course, and so I've now got a BackHug bed of my own which is fantastic.

What difference have you noticed since using BackHug?

I've noticed a real big difference since I've been able to do it every day, or every other day as opposed to every week or every other week, you know. So it has made a really massive difference.

Well I feel that my sleeping is better, my strength, my energy is better. My fatigue is less, although, you know, there is a certain amount of things you can't... And my pace of walking is better. I'll use crutches but my actual pace of walking is better. I mean, I was that slow that a toddler could overtake me, you know [laughing]. I mean, I can't walk fast but I am walking better and it's easier, it was such an effort to walk before. So it's, you know, it's slightly easier to do it.

And it has definitely made an improvement in just my whole wellbeing. Everybody keeps saying "Oh my goodness you look so well" "You look so well, it's amazing!" I must have looked awful before [laughing].
